Senior Transport Modeller - FM1619 - £35 - £38,000 - Warrington The Warrington Transportation Planning team has a buoyant workload in highway modelling and economic forecasting. We are looking now to expand the team to build on this success and to support a growing client base locally, elsewhere in the UK and overseas. Consequently, we require strong senior level candidates with wide ranging transport modelling skills and experience.
The clients for the company's services in the UK include the Highways Agency, County and Local Highway Authorities and private developers. The work for the Highways Agency includes the modelling of the operation and impact of the proposed widening of the M25 motorway, including the appraisal of a range of demand management measures. For Transport for London, recently they have concluded a scheme for the upgrading of a 3km section of the A406 North Circular Road, which required us to model a range of safety, environmental and operational improvements, then manage the process of application for planning permission for the scheme.
They are retained by various high profile property developers in the UK and overseas to complete traffic impact assessments of their proposals. On behalf of our colleagues in Dubai, we undertake such appraisals using a four-stage VISUM model, which we are also updating to reflect the rapidly changing master-planning within the Emirate.
Examples of the network modelling work that they are currently or have recently carried out in Warrington include:
London Heathrow Airport - for DfT/BAA, we have developed a regional transport model to support the air quality modelling being carried out as part of the sustainable development study.
Haringey Council - they are currently developing a local area traffic model of Wood Green to assess development proposals and new infrastruture associated with these developments.
Will report to the Group Manager.
Will manage defined workstreams as part of large projects and manage small to medium projects in their entirety.
Will be responsible for technical quality of their own tasks or projects, whether undertaken in the Warrington office or elsewhere, and to direct and supervise the work of junior staff assigned to undertake specific modelling tasks. Will be expected to manage resourcing and commercial aspects of projects that they manage.
It is expected that the successful candidate will possess the following skills:
highway network modelling, using SATURN and VISUM;
economic appraisal, using TUBA and COBA; and
scheme appraisal in accordance with WebTAG guidelines.
In addition, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they are fully familiar with the micro-simulation modelling of local transport networks and the ways in which these models can be used in tandem with wider area models to assess the potential impacts on the road network of changes to traffic control strategies, e.g. as a result of proposed site development or regeneration.
