Our clients are a specialist engineering company providing a full range of services to the property and construction industry. As part of the Group they are aligned to their Civils, Environmental, Energy and Development and Transportation Businesses to provide a multidisciplinary management and consultancy services that meets the developing demands of their client’s.
The Business unit is divided into several operating teams each lead by a Technical Director. The aim is to add a Senior Electrical Engineer to an existing team to strengthen the structure and be part of growth and development.
The present work load consists of retail, commercial and residential projects including “renewable technology” and “low energy” designs required to satisfy local authority planning requirements and Building Regulations, Part L.

Responsibilities;
The successful candidate will be a dynamic self motivated individual who will work as part of an engineering team, taking a senior role in project and design work, focused on delivery to the client and technical excellence. Production and client liaison and mentoring & coaching junior members of the team. The role requires management of projects, fees and invoicing on their particular projects, involvement in design at early stages of projects, delivering on time and profitably and should possess a good understanding of the deliverables required for each stage of a project.
The successful candidate will undertake detailed design to the required standards, support and mentor graduates and technicians and take into full consideration CDM and QA standards and programme deadlines. They will liaise with design teams to develop details, attend design team meetings and workshops as necessary and liaise with Contractors. The role will include feasibility studies and development of concepts through to detailed design, specification and tender to the required standards, development of energy strategies incorporating renewable technologies and low energy designs to satisfy local authority planning requirements and compliance with Building Regulations Part L, co-ordinated design delivery taking into full consideration CDM standards QA standards and programme deadlines.
The ability to work closely with clients and take instructions is essential. The role includes attendance at site meetings, liaison with Construction Managers and Trade Contractors, timely response to site queries, site visits to monitor progress and quality of installations, witnessing of commissioning results, defects inspections and acceptance of installations for handover to clients.
Contribute to bids related to new prospects and presentations to clients.

The applicant will be encouraged to develop their own clients through repeat business, to seek new opportunities, contribute to bids and be articulate in their ability to assist in the delivery of meaningful presentations to clients.
The applicant should ideally be degree qualified in a relevant discipline and have obtained or be close to obtaining Chartered Engineer status with the CIBSE, however applicants with proven design experience in the M&E industry will be considered.
The successful candidate must have a proven ability to work within a team completing detailed design engineering, calculations, site supervision and liaison of work for a variety of projects.
The ability to liaise and communicate effectively with clients is essential.
Good communication and team working skills are essential. The ability to support and mentor graduates and technicians is also necessary.
Must be fully conversant with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and technical software, such as Amtech electrical design package, Relux and Dialux lighting design software.

The successful applicants will have good general design experience in building services systems together with experience of developing designs for large scale projects and the ability to see such through to successful on-site completion.
