FM1618 - Sustainability and Climate Change Consultant - £27,000 to £33,000 – Birmingham

  • Our client provides cutting edge environmental solutions at the forefront of best practice. An experienced, professional and creative individual is sought to join the Sustainability and Climate Change Team. The client in Birmingham is offering an innovative consultancy style that is tailored to helping clients meet statutory sustainability requirements and climate change targets. Nationwide examples of project would include various SA/SEA for LDFs, advice for Regional Assemblies sustainable urban extensions, strategic and technical climate change solutions. The post holder would be involved in the initiation and delivery of projects, but also in identifying new business opportunities and directions within the following work areas. Preparation and assessment of spatial strategies, initiatives and project relating to climate change mitigation and adaptation measures.

  • § Sustainability Appraisal/Strategic Environmental Assessment/Appropriate Assessment § Preparation and assessment of sustainable planning policies (LDFs), sustainable regeneration strategies/master-planning and urban design/lay-out. § Undertake research, analysis and prepare reports and documentation § Advice on and/or preparation of applied sustainable/climate change initiatives and measures, for instance carbon neutral development/master-planning, energy efficient/ passive solar energy design, sustainable layout/urban form, home zones, retro fitting solutions, micro-generation. § Compiling/devising sustainability checklists to assess/evaluate buildings, sites, neighbourhoods or areas using new and established tools, including utilisation of the Code for Sustainable Homes, BREEAM etc.

  • Degree level qualification: RTPI or member of any other environmental professional bodies/Chartered Environmentalist/Member of the Institute of Environmental Management or Assessment. § Project management skills, understanding partnership working across organisational boundaries. The ideal candidate would possess skills/experience around the following areas: (As most of the workload is relatively new, we would consider attitude and ability to acquire new skills as importance as experience.) § Climate change mitigation and adaptation measures, including government targets/guidance and statutory requirements and processes. Appreciation of the complexity of factors involved and understanding of barriers to implementing climate change aspiration. § Sustainability Appraisal/Strategic Environmental Assessment/Appropriate Assessment, (all stages, including reports and compliance audits). § The new spatial planning system: LDF preparation/review, sustainable planning policies or strategies, sustainable regeneration strategies, urban design. § Ability to translate policy into action: applied sustainable/climate change measures, for instance carbon neutral development/lay-out/master-planning (passive design/use of renewable energy for new development and retrofitting), sustainable city concept, eco-towns, home zones, both on a project base or in the form of spatial policy advice. § Understanding of evaluation and assessment tools, such as the Code for Sustainable Homes, BREEAM, and/or compiling/devising sustainability checklists

FM1616 - Technical Director - Environmental Solutions - £45,000 to £50,000 – Warrington

  • Provide technical direction to the sector/function (within the framework of the regional strategies), to maintain a strong brand image, to plan and deliver the local sales performance and to maintain strong key account relationships. The TD also has a responsibility for delivering high quality standards for design and delivery. Work closely with the Area Director, Function Group Manager and Sector Directors to ensure mutual support and co-operation in delivering their respective objectives in accordance with Team UK strategy.

  • The individual will be expected to lead, train, challenge, and develop members of the Warrington Environmental Solutions Team in EIA/SEA related skills. The individual will provide technical guidance to the team and keep abreast of all new developments in EIA/SEA related services, particularly those related to the markets in which the company operates Liaison with other Technical Mangers, UK Director of Environmental Services, and Function Group Manager will be necessary to ensure a consistent UK approach and that lessons learned are shared. The role will require management of projects across several disciplines within the company, and potentially external sub-consultants, from bid handover to project completion. The individual will be expected to act as a Project Director to provide technical leadership and technical review for projects relevant to their expertise

  • This is a Principal role within the Warrington Environmental Solutions Team to provide a technical overview primarily in the disciplines of EIA/SEA related disciplines. The individual will be required work closely with other Technical Managers and Technical Directors in the Environmental Solutions team and liaise with other sectors/offices to ensure a high quality, consistent approach to technical outputs and client management. BA or BSc. Member of recognised institute such as IEMA, CIWEM,IEEM. MSc or equivalent Up to date knowledge of current and emerging UK and EU policies and legislation Project management of EIA & SEA Management of multi-disciplinary teams and subconsultants Experience in Public Inquiries as expert witness Understanding of the application of EIA in the design of public infrastructure Evidence of leading successful teams Working knowledge of current and planned environmental planning legislation, case law, standards and guidance Proven experience in preparing major tender documents including financial and resource breakdowns Track record in key account management, business development and winning new business Expertise in preparing literate, high quality reports with appropriate IT skills Membership of relevant institute and Chartership Ability to communicate well with clients Must be able to work alone and as part of a team

FM1617 - Environmental Consultant - £35,000 to £45,000 – Dublin

  • Our client has identified a permanent position in Dublin for a highly motivated individual to co-ordinate our transport related environmental work in Ireland and to help raise our profile in this important market. The role would focus on existing and upcoming EIA and detailed environmental design work, supporting tender submissions for scheme development and construction, and environmental contract supervision. The UK resource pool would provide specialist support as required, with a view to developing our local capability if considered appropriate

  • Requirements of position • Co-ordination of Environmental Impact Assessments for highway schemes • Managing detailed design of associated environmental mitigation measures • Supporting the preparation of tender submissions for the development and construction of highway schemes • Production of literate, high quality reports and presentations using well developed IT skills • Client liaison • Commitment, enthusiasm and self motivation.

  • Minimum 3 years post graduation experience in consultancy • Experienced in managing / co-ordinating EIA’s, Preferable experience in the detailed design of environmental mitigation works for highway schemes • Experience of working in the Republic of Ireland would also be an advantage. • Broad knowledge/experience of environmental consultancy markets and skills, including waste management, PPC, EMS, and renewable energy would be an advantage. • Business development experience is essential. Higher degree in Environmental Impact Assessment or other relevant subject • Full membership of appropriate professional institute (e.g. Landscape Institute, IEMA, IEEM etc) First degree in appropriate subject (e.g. Landscape Design, Environmental Science, Biology, etc)

FM1615 - Noise Consultant - £21,000 to £27,000 – Warrington

  • Noise consultant to integrate into the Warrington Noise Team, which forms part of Environmental Solutions. Provide technical input into noise surveys and assessments for environmental noise projects including transportation noise, planning, industrial noise and noise associated with renewable energy Provide support to the existing noise team in the organisation and carrying out of noise and vibration surveys for a range of environmental noise projects. Carrying out noise and vibration calculations and assessment in line with CRTN, CRN, DMRB, PPG 24, BS4142, IPPC, ETSU-R-97, BS5228). Carrying out computer based noise modelling (for example NoiseMap, WindPro, IMMI).

  • Good Report writing and communication skills. Good numeracy and MS Excel skills. Have experience in noise and vibration surveys. Experience in noise calculations and assessment would be desirable but are not considered essential as they could be taught. Driving license is essential.

  • Diploma of Acoustics and Noise Control MSc or Equivalent BSs in acoustics or a related discipline. At least an Associate Member of recognised institute such as Institute of Acoustics or Institute of Environmental Sciences. Certificate of competence in Noise Monitoring. At least 2 years experience of noise and vibration surveys in environmental consultancy or similar. Experience of noise calculation and assessment using CRTN, DMRB, PPG24, BS4142. Experience in computer based noise modelling or similar.

FM1562 - Waste Engineer/Consultant - £30,000 to £38,000 – Bristol

  • Our client, a leading International Construction and Engineering Consultancy has 5 'themes' one of which is waste engineering - this area needs a dedicated UK team leader to co-ordinate activities, drive business development and oversee assignment. Appointment of consultant with well established track record in the design and delivery of waste infrastructure projects. Able to liaise with and influcence senior figures in engineering and private waste sector companies, support UK Waste Team in gaining new commisions for the company Waste Team nationally Co-ordinate and develop the company waste engineering team (includes landfill, treatment and all engineering issues) into a fully functioning UK business stream (and Middle East potentially)

  • Marketing and business development activity in a local and regional context with targeted results based on their existing Local Authority network and contacts. To assist in bidding, marketing and projects in relation to all waste service delivery plans. To support existing projects and client sectors in order to provide additional revenues and build the reputation of the company in the SW. To grow a waste engineering team in Bristol in the next 12 months.

  • Chartered Member of CIWM/Contractor Experience - Relevant First degree - Waste Engineering/contractor Experience

FM1524 - Senior Environmental Consultant - £30,000 to £35,000 – Warrington

  • Managing the production of EIAs, SEAs & SAs for a range of environmental and planning projects for high profile governmentt and private clients . To have technical, commercial and overall control of the projects. Client liaison and public exhibition/inquiry experience would be useful. Bidding and marketing would be required although would not be a major requirement.

  • Business Development of environmental assessment capabilities • Client relationships with major infrastructure providers/groups (government & private) • Staff supervision. Join the Environmental Planning Team, which forms part of Environmental Solutions which also comprises ecologists and landscape architects and environmental scientists. Project manage and coordinate multidisciplinary EIAs and SEAs.

  • BA or BSc. MSc or equivalent. Member of recognised institute such as IEMA, CIWEM,IEEM. Essential Skills or Background 4+ years of environmental consultancy or similar. Project management of EIA & SEA. Knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (Environmental Assessment) and other best practice EIA guidance. Coordination of multidisciplinary teams and management of sub consultants. Knowledge of UK planning system.
